My Wallpaper Slideshow is an Android live wallpaper application developed by Vishal Ramachandran (personal). The app lets you select image folders from your device and display them as an animated live wallpaper with customizable transition effects, speed, and timing.
This privacy policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and our commitment to keeping all of that information strictly on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers.
The app requests the following Android permissions:
| Permission | Android Version | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| READ_MEDIA_IMAGES | Android 13 (API 33) and above |
Lets the app read image files (.jpg, .jpeg,
.png) stored on your device so they can be displayed as your
live wallpaper. No images are copied, modified, uploaded, or shared.
|
| READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE | Android 12 (API 32) and below |
Equivalent to READ_MEDIA_IMAGES on older Android versions.
Used solely to read image files for wallpaper display.
|
| BIND_WALLPAPER | All supported versions | Required by the Android system to allow an app to provide a live wallpaper service. This permission is granted by the system, not by the user directly, and does not provide access to any personal data. |
AndroidManifest.xml does not include
android.permission.INTERNET, which means the app is
technically incapable of sending any data over a network connection.
Android enforces this at the OS level.
The only data the app reads from your device are image files in the folders you explicitly select. Specifically:
| Data | How it is accessed | Leaves the device? |
|---|---|---|
| Image files (.jpg, .jpeg, .png) |
Read directly from the folders you choose. Used only to decode and render pixels onto the wallpaper canvas. The source file is never modified. | No |
| Image folder list |
The Android MediaStore is queried to enumerate image folders
visible to the device. This list is shown in the folder picker UI; no
folder metadata is stored beyond your own selection.
|
No |
| EXIF orientation tag | Read from each image file to auto-rotate images to the correct orientation before display. Only the orientation value is used; all other EXIF fields (GPS coordinates, camera model, etc.) are ignored. | No |
Your preferences are saved in Android's SharedPreferences, which is a private, on-device key-value store. These settings are never transmitted externally.
| Setting | What it stores |
|---|---|
| Transition type | Chosen animation style (e.g., Left to Right, Fade In, Random) |
| Animation speed | Slow, Normal, or Fast |
| Folder path(s) | The absolute paths of folders you selected on your device, stored as a semicolon-separated string. These paths are device-local and are never read by anyone other than the app itself. |
| Delay between slides | Number of seconds between image transitions |
| Slideshow order | Sequential or Random |
| Image position | Fit to Screen or Crop Center |
| Double-tap to advance | Whether double-tapping the wallpaper skips to the next image |
| Rate app counter | A simple integer counter used to decide when to show the in-app rating prompt. It is reset or suppressed based on your response. It is never sent anywhere. |
The app includes several open-source libraries. None of them are configured to collect user data or make network calls in this application:
| Library | Purpose in this app | Network access? |
|---|---|---|
| Picasso 2.5.2 Square, Inc. |
Loads thumbnail previews of images in the folder picker and gallery UI. All images are loaded from local file paths only — no remote URLs are used. | No |
| RxJava 1.x / RxAndroid ReactiveX |
Provides asynchronous thread management for listing image folders in the background without blocking the UI. Purely computational; no I/O beyond local file system access. | No |
| AndroidX Libraries Google / Android Open Source |
Core UI components (AppCompat, RecyclerView, CardView, Material Design, Preferences, MultiDex). Standard Android support libraries with no independent data collection. | No |
| Google Play Integrity 1.6.0 Google LLC |
This library is present as a build dependency but its integration points are not wired to any feature in the current release. No integrity tokens are requested or transmitted. | Not active |
To be explicit, the app does not collect, process, or transmit any of the following:
My Wallpaper Slideshow does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because no data is collected at all, the app complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations by design.
All user preferences are stored in Android's private SharedPreferences
store, which is sandboxed to the app's own process and is not accessible to other
apps on the device (unless the device is rooted). The app does not create
any externally readable files.
Because no data is transmitted off-device, there is no server-side attack surface that could expose your information.
The app's user interface is available in English, German (de), Spanish (es), French (fr), Portuguese (pt), and Russian (ru). All translations are bundled within the app; no language data is sent externally.
The app is distributed through the Google Play Store. Installing it through the Play Store is subject to Google's own privacy policy and terms of service, which govern how Google may collect information about app downloads and device activity through the Play Store infrastructure. That is outside the scope of this policy.
The in-app "Rate this app" prompt opens the Google Play Store listing in your browser or the Play Store app. Interacting with that external page is governed by Google's privacy policy.
If this privacy policy changes in a material way — for example, if a future version of the app adds network functionality or analytics — this page will be updated and the effective date at the top will be revised. We encourage you to check back periodically if you have concerns.
If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy policy or the app's data practices, please reach out:
